The New York Giants receive:
Philip Rivers QB 88
Quentin Jammer CB 89
Roman Oben LT 82

The Giants agree to this deal.

webster=oben (age)
and mitchell+manning aren't really enough for rivers, but i guess its close enough....

so im getting better on defense and really solidifying my needs

I'm getting rid of Eli Manning, and getting one of my favorite QBs. I'm also getting one of my favorite corners in Jammer, who is bigger and physical. Which is exactly the kind of guy I need to run in my Cover 2 system. And I'm getting a very solid backup for Jennings after I move Diehl to LG. Jennings is a bit injury prone, so having a very solid backup for him is essential. This helps us both out.

that doesnt really work, because that way, you could use this logic:

you have a 69 starting ROLB and a 98 FS. you trade your backup FS who is an 92 and young for an 82 ROLB. you can say you are giving a backup and upgrading 13 pts at ROLB, so you are getting the benefit.

overall defense-wise Id be upgrading still.

and that doesnt apply here because im not givein a 90+ backup.......

I suppose you could make that arguement.. If it applies, but here it doesnt really

and as said before, it comes down to an 85 OLB and an 85 QB for an 88 QB, which I dont mind doing since my defense is improving greatly and im getting rid of 2 of my needs

I'm a little on the fence with this as well. I think the Chargers are getting much more out of the deal then the Raiders, personally.
